How buyers are actually protected

Authenticity protection on Mazedna doesn’t rest on promises. It rests on three mechanisms built into the platform itself:

• ID-verified sellers. Nobody can list an item without passing identity verification — an official ID document plus a selfie, reviewed by our team. A fraudulent seller is not anonymous — their identity, phone, and payment method are on file.
• Your payment sits in escrow, not with the seller. When you win, the money is held by Mazedna. It only reaches the seller after you receive the item and the dispute window passes.
• A dispute window while escrow is held. Inspect the item on arrival and open a dispute if it is not as described — any time before the escrow releases, which happens when you confirm receipt or automatically 7 days after payment.

What sellers are required to provide

Platform policy requires every listing to include:

• Clear, unedited photographs of the actual item for sale — no catalogue or stock images
• An honest description of condition, including flaws
• In authentication-sensitive categories — watches, jewellery, fine art, designer bags, antiques — whatever supporting documentation exists: receipts, certificates, appraisals, or ownership history

A seller who misrepresents an item — deliberately or carelessly — is removed from the platform, and their verified identity, phone, and payment method are flagged so they cannot simply return under a new account.

Independent assessment on request

If you are bidding on a high-value lot and want an independent opinion before the auction closes, write to support@mazedna.com and we will coordinate an assessment with an independent specialist where one is available. The cost is borne by the requesting party and is non-refundable regardless of outcome.

If you receive a fake

Open a dispute from your order page as soon as you find the problem — while the escrow is still held — and provide your evidence (photos, comparisons, a specialist opinion if you have one). Your payment is still in escrow — it never reached the seller. If the item is confirmed inauthentic, you receive a full refund and the seller’s account is suspended immediately pending review.

We take this seriously. A marketplace where fakes circulate is not a marketplace. It is a problem.
